Butterfly Tours Apprentice Program Butterfly Tours is accepting applications from certified assistant sea kayak guides who are interested in apprenticing with us on the Queen Charlotte Islands during 2010. The unpaid apprentice position may lead to paid employment as an assistant guide during the summer of 2011 and beyond...
Butterfly Tours invests over $400 to train each apprentice guide. Two-way floatplane and/or speedboat transport between Sandspit and Rose Harbour consumes a large portion of this expense.
Apprentice guides are requested to contribute CAD $400 to join the first tour. If the first tour works out, then an apprentice may be invited to join consecutive tours at no charge. If an apprentice is later hired by Butterfly Tours as an assistant guide, then a $200 bonus is applied to their first pay cheque.
This program has been implemented to ensure apprentice guides are truly interested (and invested) in working with Butterfly Tours, rather than simply enjoying a free kayak trip on the Charlottes.
Parks Canada requires guides to become registered, please see the application.
For more information, please see our employment webpage.
Applicants may also be interested in viewing information regarding the possibility of purchasing Butterfly Tours. Under the right circumstances, Gord would consider selling the company. Purchase options include a one-year training period, to ensure complete and successful transfer of all aspects of the business.
