Day One
This vacation begins in Sandspit; guests are picked up at Seaport Bed & Breakfast for the 20-minute drive to Alliford Bay, where you board a de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter floatplane for the 40-minute scenic flight along the length of Moresby Island. (On rare circumstances, it may be necessary to substitute an alternative floatplane, or a speedboat.)
You land at the tiny, isolated community of Rose Harbour to enjoy lunch, an introduction to the local residents and a tour of the facilities. After moving into the guesthouse, we provide an orientation to the kayaks and embark on an afternoon paddle.
Days Two to Seven
There are numerous and varied day-trip possibilities from Rose Harbour. Kayaking options include sheltered local excursions, as well as more challenging adventures to the Pacific’s outer coast and Hecate Strait. Ride the current down Houston Stewart Channel as we paddle to the Gordon Islands to explore the lagoon at the centre of this delightful island cluster. Continue our paddling venture to visit the beaches of Bowles Point and hike to a nearby cave.
Our itinerary remains very flexible to accommodate changeable west coast conditions.

Walk along the shoreline to witness the vast array of marine life clinging to the inter-tidal regions. Realize the rich abundance and diversity of life existing between sea and forest…
Discover the Haida village of Ninstints on Anthony Island. This remarkable historic village is a United Nations World Heritage Site, also known as SGang Gwaay. Numerous ancient totem poles overlook the village and longhouse ruins are still visibly prominent.
Haida Watchmen on the island can explain the carvings on the poles and provide insightful interpretations of the village and their ancestors who lived there. You will spend a day exploring the site and experiencing the sense of mystery that lingers in this haunting, deserted village.
Kayak up Rose Inlet and hike through the magnificent rainforest to a picturesque waterfall, then journey to the head of the inlet where remains of an ancient Haida fish-trap are still visible.
Day Eight
The speedboat arrives at Rose Harbour to return the group to Sandspit. (On rare circumstances, it may be necessary to substitute floatplane transportation.)
