2027 DATES ARE LIVE | NEW FOR 2027: 8-DAY SOUTHERN SG̲ANG G̲WAAY̲ | NEW: LEVEL 6 SURGE DRY PANT ADD-ON - PADDLE IN THE GEAR OUR GUIDES WEAR & RECOMMEND
We believe great food is an important part of a great expedition. After a day of paddling through Haida Gwaii, exploring the rainforest and beaches, and watching wildlife from the water, there is something special about sitting down together around camp for a satisfying meal.
Our guides prepare a varied menu throughout the trip, with meals designed to be fresh, hearty, nutritious and delicious — while still being practical to prepare in a wilderness camp.
Mornings start with plenty of food and good coffee.
Depending on the day, breakfast might be pancakes with fresh berries or bananas, maple syrup and bacon, a build-your-own granola bowl with yogurt, fruit and dried berries, or warm oatmeal with apples, coconut, nuts and dried fruit.
We also make more substantial breakfasts such as shakshuka with eggs, tomatoes, peppers, feta and fresh herbs, and our popular breakfast sandwiches with eggs, cheese, bacon, avocado and tomato.
There is always enough to fuel you for the day ahead.
Lunch is fresh, colourful and designed to keep you going through a full day on the water.
You might find yourself enjoying smoked salmon and bagels with cream cheese, capers and fresh vegetables, a colourful black bean or bean salad with hummus, vegetables and pita, or our Glory Bowl with quinoa, crispy tofu, carrots, beets, apple, spinach and a tahini-based dressing.
Other days feature generous sandwich spreads with Black Forest ham, salami, cheese, fresh vegetables and hummus, or build-your-own wraps loaded with vegetables, avocado and your choice of fillings.
Fresh fruit, vegetables, chips and something sweet round out lunch.
We know that a full day of paddling calls for plenty of snacks.
Each guest receives their own Nalgene snack container, which you can fill each morning with your choice of trail snacks. We provide a selection of nuts, trail mix, gummy worms, dried fruit and granola bars.
You’ll keep your snack container with you on the water, making it easy to grab a quick bite whenever we stop for a short break. It’s a simple part of the day, but having snacks right there when you need them means you can keep your energy up without having to wait for the next meal.
Dinner is when the camp kitchen really comes alive.
Our evening meals are hearty and varied, with plenty of vegetables and big flavours. Depending on the trip, dinner might be a warming spinach and quinoa soup with garlic bread, a hearty chilli with beans, peppers and fresh cilantro, or Koi Soi Soup with vegetables, tofu, noodles and seafood served separately.
Other favourites include cauliflower and chickpea curry with basmati rice and naan, pesto pasta with vegetables and chorizo, gnocchi with broccoli, peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and balsamic, and black bean tacos with avocado, cheese, salsa and lime cabbage slaw.
We put a lot of thought into making our meals work for the whole group. Many of our dishes are naturally vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or adaptable to different dietary needs, and we provide alternatives where required.
Please let us know about dietary requirements when you book. We are happy to plan ahead and make sure you have plenty to eat throughout your trip.
Wilderness food doesn't have to mean basic food.
After a full day of adventure, we think you deserve a really good dinner.
